The Centro de Arte y Flamenco de Sevilla (CAFS) organizes its annual workshop "Curso International de Flamenco" in Cadiz, the most ancient city still standing in Western Europe.
After its success in the past years, CAFS is offering again courses and activities designed to cover the expectations of each level of training by adapting specific methodologies that ensure the maximum performance and increased learning of our students.

The courses will take place in Cadiz (Spain), at the Centro Municipal de Arte Flamenco "La Merced" located in the Plaza de la Merced s/n.

GENERAL PROGRAM
On Saturday July 7th, we will welcome our students with a Flamenco show performed by singer Esperanza Fernández and dancer Miguel Vargas, accompanied by other artists, at the Centro Municipal de Arte Flamenco "La Merced". Time: 9pm
On Sunday July 8th, tenemos un encuentro entre alumnos/as y profesores students and teachers will have the chance to meet in one of the traditional tapas bars of Cadiz. On this occasion, we will get to know each other and talk about the objectives of each course. Meeting point: Centro Municipal de Arte Flamenco “La Merced.” Time: 10pm
The courses will start on Monday July 9th , darán comienzo los cursos. For students enrolled in Basic/Intermediate dance course 1 (Zorongo), we offer and recommend a repetition class run by an assistant teacher.
On July 13th , we will celebrate the closing ceremony of the VI Curso Internacional de Flamenco Cadiz 2012. Students will present the songs and the choreographies that they have learnt during the course. They will also receive a Certificate from the Centro de Arte y Flamenco de Sevilla of the workshop that they have completed. As a farewell, we invite you to join us for a delicious cocktail and enjoy the beauty of summer in Cadiz. Time: 9:30pm

Esperanza Fernández - Cante
Esperanza Fernandez is without a doubt, one of the main voices of flamenco. In her long established career, Esperanza has brought her Cante to cities like New York, Rome, Paris, Brasilia, etc. She has performed with artists such as Paco de Lucia, Camarón, Enrique Morente, Yehudi Menuhin, Jean Marc Padovani, Noa, Myrian Makeba and Rafael Frühbeck of Burgos, and many others.

Miguel Vargas - Baile
His dance is pure charisma, pure energy, passion, intensity, personality, technique and pure instinct. Despite of his youth, Miguel has proven through 20 years of teaching that he is acclaimed worldwide. His productions have travelled throughout countries like the USA, the UK, the UAE, Norway, France, Italy, Greece, Japan, and many others.

Javier Katumba - Percussion/Palmas (hand-clapping)
Javier Katumba has worked with artists like Jose Luis Figueroa "El Barrio", Arrebato, Jose Merce, Montse Cortes, Niña Pastori, Manolo Carrasco and David Palomar, among others. Currently he works with singer David de Maria presenting the new album "Relojes de Arena" and he participates in the productions of Trimilenaria with David Palomar, Miguel Martinez and Saez India.

Javier Ibáñez - Guitar
Javier Ibáñez, born in Seville, moved in early years with his family to Jerez de la Frontera. His career began in 1991. At that time he starts to play in many important “Centros Culturales” and “Peñas Flamencas.” He studies flamenco guitar at the Conservatario Superior de Música de Cordoba and is currently working in the Company’s of the dancers Mercedes Ruiz and Antonio El Pipa.

Cadiz is a city in the southern Andalusian region of Spain with a wealth of attractive views and well-preserved historical landmarks. Among the many historical and scenic landmarks in Cadiz, there are remarkable cathedrals, a magnificent theatre, an attractive old municipal building, an eighteenth century watchtower, a vestige of the ancient city wall, an ancient Roman theatre, and electrical pylons of with eye-catching modern design carrying cables across the Bay of Cadiz. The old town is known for its narrow winding alleys that lead to magnificent plazas, bordered from the sea by the city walls. Cadiz is also the home to Spain's most beautiful beaches. The city has 7,220 meters of wonderful white sand.
During the nights out, you will have the opportunity to visit "La Venta Vargas," where Camarón de la Isla began his career, and go through some of the most important peñas in Spain, as the Peña de El Mellizo Enrique and Peña La Perla de Cadiz.
